So my job as an IT tech has opened my eyes to the technical side of the graphic design biz. When I first got the job I was doing a lot of PC work, setting up computers for events and imaging rooms for the up coming school year, but as summer moved on I found myself doing a lot more MAC job. My first job was to learn the imaging software for MAC. Now this would have been an easy job for one of my fellow workers (all from computer programming) but for me getting my head around this whole operation was quite a struggle. After a lot of technical reading I was still lost so I got a representative from Deployment Studios to come to the school to show us how to use there program. That presentation was probably one of the highlights of the summer, I remember sitting there thinking to my self, don’t look scared, don’t let them know you have no idea what he’s talking about, as the techno babble was flying in one ear and out the other. After the presentation my boss and the 2 other guys there asked if we could get a live test of the system and I was really glad we did that, cuz well I still did not know exactly what to do. After I ran about getting the server MAC and setting it up, we were all shown how to use the program correctly. After a summer of using the program I feel very confident with the skills I learned, but ill never forget the helplessness of being told to learn the program that first day.
